Exploring the Power of Hydraulic Press Machines

Historical Evolution

In 1795, J. Bramer of England applied the Pascal principle to invent the hydraulic press, giving birth to the world’s first hydraulic press machine;

In 1905, the working medium was changed from water to oil, which was further improved;

In 1914, hydraulic transmission was widely used;

In 1920, hydraulic components began to enter the formal industrial production stage;

In 1925, F. Vikers invented the pressure balanced vane pump, laying the foundation for the modern hydraulic component industry and the gradual development of hydraulic transmission;

In 1930, Rexroth developed high-quality professional castings;

In 1940, the development of electro-hydraulic servo control began;

In 1950, large-scale hydraulic presses rose again;

With the development of microelectronics technology, computers, modern control theory, and close integration with hydraulic technology, hydraulic presses are also developing towards high-precision, high-pressure, and large-scale directions.

Working Principles

Hydraulic press machine is based on the Pascal principle, using fluid as the transmission medium to convert kinetic energy in the liquid into mechanical energy, thereby driving the movement of the parts. The power source of the hydraulic press presses liquid from the oil tank into the hydraulic cylinder. When the pressure reaches a certain value, the piston rod of the hydraulic cylinder is forced to rise, and energy is transmitted to the components on the piston rod, causing the components to move.

Types of Hydraulic Press Machines

1. C-Frame Hydraulic Press

The body is a C-frame single arm structure, and the hydraulic system is embedded in the machine body, with a beautiful appearance and convenient operation. Due to the open structure design, it is often used in scenarios of manual operation, and also due to structural limitations, it is only suitable for smaller tonnage hydraulic presses.H-Frame Hydraulic Press

The body adopts an overall frame structure with four corners and eight guide rails. This structure can be applied to hydraulic presses with larger tonnage, and because the workbench can be operated both before and after, it is also often used in wider size coil production lines.

2. Four-Post Hydraulic Press

The Four-Post press consists of two main parts: the main engine and the control mechanism. The main components of a press machine include hydraulic cylinders, upper crossbeams, lower crossbeams, movable crossbeams, columns, and power devices. The power mechanism is composed of oil tank, high-pressure pump, control system, motor, pressure valve, directional valve, etc.

Applications of Different Types

1. Metal Forming

In the field of metal forming, hydraulic presses are often used for processes such as shearing, straightening, stretching, bending, punching, stamping, and expanding, and are widely used in industries such as automobiles, aviation, ships, pressure vessels, chemicals, and home appliances.

2. Rubber Molding

Rubber is widely used in industries such as automobiles, aviation, electronics, hardware, daily necessities, construction, agriculture, etc. The forming process of rubber, including rolling forming, extrusion forming, and molding, cannot do without hydraulic presses. Therefore, hydraulic presses are essential in the rubber forming process.

3. Powder Compacting

The powder compaction process is widely used in industries such as medicine, industry, construction, energy, agriculture, etc. Hydraulic presses are crucial equipment in the powder compaction process.
